-1 101 Z One of the most important sanctuaries in Greece was that of Apollo at Delphi, where the god, through his priestess, would answer questions about the future. Delphi gained its importance in the late Archaic period when colonizing expeditions sought advice from this Oracle. The Pythian Games were established there around 590 BC, so it became an important meeting place.
